Report: AC Milan could sign Spurs-linked midfielder for just £8.5m

According to Italian outlet Notizie Milan, AC Milan could complete a cut-price swoop for AS Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout, who was previously linked with Tottenham Hotspur.

Reports from Italy claimed during the January transfer window that Spurs tried to snap up Veretout (Tuttosport 19/01/22 edition – via Sport Witness).

However, the midfielder ended up staying put in the Italian capital after Jose Mourinho allegedly blocked his exit (The Athletic).

Corriere dello Sport reported last month that the 29-year-old is expected to leave the Stadio Olimpico this summer after failing to agree on a new contract with the Giallorossi.

This has now been backed up by Notizie Milan, who suggest that Roma will cash in on Veretout, whose current deal with the Serie A club runs until 2024.

The report claims that Milan have been following the former Aston Villa man for a long time and could seize on the opportunity to sign him for a fee of around €10m (£8.5m) this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs are likely to sign at least one central midfielder this summer, with Harry Winks potentially on his way out of the club.

However, Veretout is not of the quality we need, even as a squad player, if we are to close the gap on Man City and Liverpool.

I expect Conte to target a midfielder with Premier League experience like Yves Bissouma or Youri Tielemans.
