Report: AC Milan have spoken to Spurs player’s agent about potential transfer

Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that AC Milan hold an interest in signing Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga.

It was an all too familiar story for Tanganga during the 2021/222 campaign as injuries prevented the Spurs academy graduate from getting much game time.

The versatile defender reportedly returned to Hotspur Way a week earlier than the majority of the Spurs squad to build up his fitness after being out of action for the final few months of last season (Football.London).

The 23-year-old will be hoping that he can impress Antonio Conte and his coaching staff during pre-season to stake a claim in Tottenham’s back three.

Mundo Deportivo reported last month that Tanganga is on Atletico Madrid’s radar this summer, with the La Liga giants said to be viewing the Spurs man as an option to cover at centre-back and right-back.

Di Marzio has now revealed that AC Milan are also eyeing a move for the former England Under-21 international. The report asserts that Tanganga is keen to get regular game time during the 2022/23 season.

It is asserted that representatives from the Rossoneri have met with the defender’s agent to discuss a summer transfer.

If Tangana does leave, I hope he does so on loan rather than permanently. I personally believe that the 23-year-old’s attributes make him a perfect fit to play on either side of a back three.

Even if Conte does not see Tanganga as part of his long-term plans, a loan spell in Italy will raise his value significantly, and we would be able to sell the defender for a decent fee in 12 months.
