Report: AC Milan ready to meet asking price for Spurs-linked defender

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan are set to push ahead with a move for Lille centre-back Sven Botman, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

The Telegraph revealed earlier this month that signing a left-sided centre-back is a priority for Spurs in the summer and that Botman is one of the names who ranks high on the North London club’s wishlist.

According to reports, Newcastle made multiple offers for the 22-year-old during the January transfer window, which were turned down by Lille (The Athletic).

Fabrizio Romano revealed last week that Newcastle and AC Milan are both working on a deal to sign the Netherlands international ahead of the summer transfer window.

Gazzetta have now backed up Romano’s claim about Milan’s interest in Botman, stating that the Rossoneri are willing to meet Lille’s financial demands for the centre-back.

The report adds Botman is also open to the idea of making a switch to the San Siro at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Signing a left-sided centre-back to offer competition to Ben Davies will likely be one of Tottenham’s priorities when the transfer window reopens. I suspect Botman would rank fairly highly on Fabio Paratici’s wishlist as the Dutchman fits the profile of players Spurs tend to go for, given his age and potential.
