Report: AC Milan receive major injury boost ahead of Tottenham CL clash

The print edition of Corriere dello Sport (08/02/23 as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Ismael Bennacer and Fikayo Tomori could both be fit for AC Milan’s clash against Tottenham next Tuesday.

Things were looking extremely bleak for Milan ahead of their round of sixteen clashes against Spurs, with the Rossoneri being on a terrible run of form since the Serie A’s restart.

In addition, they learned earlier this week that goalkeeper Mike Maignan will not be fit in time for the first leg against Tottenham and that the goalkeeper is only expected to be back in action in the middle of March (Gazzetta dello Sport).

However, Stefano Pioli’s men have now finally received some good news ahead of the first leg, with Corriere suggesting that Tomori and Bennacer could both feature next Tuesday.

The publication states that the checks conducted on both players this week were ‘positive’ and they are ‘aiming’ to be fit for the visit of Antonio Conte’s side.

Bennacer is Milan’s best midfielder while Tomori is arguably their best centre-back. So, there is no doubt that Tottenham’s job will be a lot more difficult if both players start next Tuesday.

But with Conte himself having a fully fit squad to choose from, I fancy our chances of walking away with at least a draw from the San Siro.
