Report: AC Milan will do ‘everything possible’ to win race for alleged Spurs target

Calciomercato.com have revealed that AC Milan are keen on snapping up Club Brugge sensation Charles De Ketelaere, who is also rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

De Ketelaere, who made his senior debut for Brugge at 19 years of age back in 2019, shot into the limelight during the 2021/22 campaign, finishing the season with 14 goals and seven assists in the Belgian top flight (Transfermarkt).

The attacking midfielder was linked with a move to Spurs in January, with Voetbal Nieuws reporting at the time that Antonio Conte wanted to bring the 21-year-old to North London.

Calciomercato.com have now provided an update on De Ketelaere’s future, stating that the Milan hierarchy like the youngster ‘very much’ due to his physicality and tactical flexibility.

The report makes no mention of Spurs but suggests that several Premier League clubs are on the Belgian international’s trial, with Leicester City said to be the front-runners.

However, it is asserted that Milan have already made contact with Brugge regarding De Ketelaere, with the Rossoneri intending to do ‘everything possible’ to snap up the player.

Calciomercato.com also claim that the attacking midfielder is valued at over €30m (£25.6m) but Brugge are open to negotiating the price.

Spurs Web Opinion

De Ketelaere is evidently a fantastic talent but he would be a signing with an eye towards the future rather than someone who is guaranteed to strengthen Spurs’ starting eleven.

Although the 21-year-old’s versatility might make him a good fit for Conte’s set-up, there would be an element of risk involved as there is no guarantee that the Belgian will flourish in the Premier League.

I believe that the Serie A would be the right fit for the Belgian at his current age, given that he will get more time on the ball in Italy.
