Report: AC Milan’s chances of signing Spurs defender are fading

It looks like there has been yet another twist in the Serge Aurier transfer saga, with report reports from Italy indicating that Bayer Leverkusen are now favourites to beat AC Milan to his signature.

Reports indicate that Spurs are willing to cash-in on Aurier and that Milan are keen on bringing him to the San Siro (Evening Standard).

It recently emerged that Leverkusen had entered the race for the right-back (Sky Sports) but reports from Italy maintained that Milan were confident of beating the German outfit to the Spurs star’s signature (Football Italia).

However, Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera (as relayed by Sport Witness) have made the Bundesliga side the favourite to sign the Ivory Coast international.

It is suggested that Milan’s hopes of landing Aurier are ‘fading’ following Leverkusen’s interest.

The report suggests that either the German club have made the Spurs defender a better offer or Aurier simply prefers a move to Leverkusen over Milan.

Spurs Web Opinion

A bidding war for Aurier is exactly what Daniel Levy would have been hoping for this summer as he looks to extract maximum value for the right back. Despite Milan and Leverkusen both reportedly being keen on him, I cannot see us getting more than £15m-£18m for the Ivorian. Let’s hope this saga does not drag on till the final days of the transfer window and gets concluded swiftly.
