Report: Academy starlet seeks assurances over playing time before committing future

According to a report by the Evening Standard, highly-rated Spurs youngster Troy Parrott has sought assurances over playing time before committing his long term future to the North Londoners.

The report claims that while the 17-year-old still has over eighteen months left to run on his current contract, he is attracting interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund who believe he could be the next big Premier League youngster to shine in Germany.

It is suggested that new Spurs boss Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff have taken a real liking to Parrott since arriving at the club and have big hopes for him.

They now hope to convince the teenager that his future lies at Tottenham by handing him more game time this season. It is also revealed that Mourinho wants Parrott to remain with the first team and will not be sending him out on loan.

Spurs Web Opinion

Mourinho’s words and actions since his arrival at Spurs have certainly indicated that he is open to giving young players a chance. However, these young players need to have a sustained run in the side in order to develop quickly. Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening at Spurs and that is why I believe a loan move might not be a bad idea for the likes of Parrott.
