Report: Agent fees and player salary scupper Spurs’ attempt for Barcelona player

Tottenham Hotspur made a late attempt to bring Ousmane Dembele to the club ahead of the transfer window closing tomorrow, according to Spanish reporter Helena Condis Edo.

Dembele was said to have been keen to remain at the Nou Camp, but not on the deal which has been offered which would have seen the 24-year-old have to take a considerable pay cut to extend his stay (Sky Sports).

Condis Edo took to Twitter to claim that sources have informed her that a deal is impractical because Spurs are unable to meet the financial demands of the player and his agent.

Dembele has also been linked with a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain which would see him play under former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino (Sky Sports).

This transfer seemed like a non-starter given the fact that Spurs would have to pay Barcelona a fee along with the hefty wage demands of the player, who can potentially earn even more in the summer as a free agent.
