Report: Agent of Spurs star to open talks with European club this weekend

Christian Eriksen wasted little time after Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League final defeat to Liverpool when he revealed he wanted to leave the club (Ekstra Bladet).

Despite inviting interest from Real Madrid, a move to the Spanish giants failed to materialise during the summer.

The Daily Star report that Eriksen’s agent is now due to travel to Madrid this weekend to hold talks over a switch.

It is suggested that Zinedine Zidane was not keen on bringing the 27-year-old to the Bernabeu ahead of the new season but Los Blancos are now ready to hold talks.

Madrid prioritised other targets with the arrival of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy.

Eriksen is out of contract in North London ahead at the end of the current campaign and can agree a pre-contract deal with European clubs from January.

The Dane’s agent has refused to negotiate a new contract with Spurs (Telegraph) with the playmaker set to receive a big signing on fee if he moves to Madrid as a free agent next summer.
