Report: Agent of Tottenham-linked star spotted at St James’ Park on Sunday

Sky Sports journalist Pete Graves has revealed that Jesse Lingard’s agent was in attendance at St James’ Park for Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Newcastle United on Sunday.

Lingard enjoyed an impressive second-half of last season on loan at West Ham, with his performances helping the Hammers to a sixth-place finish.

It was reported during the summer transfer window that Spurs could try and snap up the 28-year-old, with Football Insider claiming the North Londoners were competing with West Ham for the midfielder’s signature.

However, the England international ended up staying put at Old Trafford and has once again found game time hard to come by so far this season.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs reignite their interest in the midfielder but The Sun revealed earlier this month that United could cash in on him in January for a fee of around £15m.

Following Newcastle’s Saud-led takeover, the Magpies have also been mooted as a potential destination for Lingard in January.

With Graves now revealing that Lingard’s agent was at the game on Sunday, it could potentially be a sign that the attacking midfielder is expecting to be on the move in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe this is likely a sign that Lingard’s agent held talks with Newcastle’s representatives rather than Tottenham’s.

With Ndombele showing some promising signs in the number ten role and with Alli and Lo Celso also at Nuno’s disposal, I do not see why Spurs would be after a player of Lingard’s profile.
