Report: Agent ‘pushing’ manager for Tottenham job

The Daily Mirror have claimed that Nuno Espirito Santo could still end up as the next Tottenham boss.

Nuno and Wolves have parted ways following four successful seasons where the Portuguese coach helped the club to win promotion to the top flight and led them to two successive seventh-place finishes.

Previous reports have claimed that Nuno is admired at Tottenham and some Spurs fans were concerned that he could be on his way to North London when his departure from Wolves was announced.

The likes of Football.London’s Alasdair Gold and The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke have allayed fans’ fears by insisting that the 47-year-old is not on Tottenham’s radar.

However, The Mirror have now claimed that Nuno could end up at Spurs if the North London club continue to struggle in their search for a new manager.

It is also asserted that super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents the former Wolves boss, ‘has been pushing his client for the Tottenham job’.

The report adds that Wolves are eyeing exiting Roma boss Paulo Fonseca, who has been offered to Spurs (according to Ian McGarry of the Transfer Window Podcast), as a replacement for Nuno.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would certainly trust Alasdair Gold and Jack Pitt-Brooke over The Mirror regarding Tottenham’s targets. Given the scrutiny that Levy has come under, he knows that he has to make an exciting appointment that energises the fan base. So I do not see him going for someone of Nuno’s profile.
