Report: Alleged Tottenham centre-back target is now valued at £17.2m

Messaggero Veneto report that Napoli have emerged as the favourites to sign rumoured Tottenham target Rodrigo Becao, who is said to be valued at £17.2m.

Multiple Italian publications have reported over recent weeks that Becoa is one of the central defenders on Spurs’ radar ahead of the January transfer window (Tutto Udinese).

Messaggero Veneto now explain that the race for the Brazilian will be anything but straightforward, with Tottenham said to be facing competition from the likes of Everton, Inter Milan and Napoli for the player.

The publication adds that Udinese have already proposed a one-year extension to Becao’s current deal, which runs until 2024, but the 26-year-old is alleged to have rejected the offer as he fears that it could scupper a potential transfer to a top club.

The report adds that Udinese value the centre-back at around €20m (£17.2m) and that Napoli are now in ‘pole position’ to sign the defender, thanks to the good relationship that the two clubs have.

Becao would fit the bill for Spurs as a replacement for Sanchez and Tanganga as the Brazilian can cover for the right centre-back and central sweeper roles. However, it remains to be seen whether Udinese will sell the 26-year-old in January and if he is near the top of Conte’s and Paratici’s wishlist.
