Report: Andre Villas-Boas attempted to sign Spurs player on deadline day

Reports now claim that ex-Spurs manager, Andre Villas-Boas, made an attempt to sign a Tottenham player on the European transfer deadline day (RMC Sport).

AVB, who is now in charge of Marseille in France, apparently tried to get Victor Wanyama through the door on September 2, but no deal was reached.

Wanyama and AVb were not at Tottenham at the same time, as Pochettino signed the Kenyan from Southampton, but Villas-Boas would have been aware of the current situation.

Victor has been hampered with injuries in recent years and, as a result, has fallen down the pecking order in North London.

With the likes of Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Tanguy Ndombele, Oliver Skipp, Christian Eriksen, Giovani Lo Celso, and more to occupy those central midfield positions, Wanyama will have a tough time getting regular football.

This deal may be worth keeping an eye on when the January window opens.
