Report: Another possible destination emerges for Christian Eriksen

Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, who is now into the final year of his contract at the North London club (Football.London) has expressed his desire to seek a new challenge ahead of the upcoming season (Ekstra Bladet).

The Dane has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer as Zinedine Zidane continues rebuilding his squad after a disappointing season (Marca). Now it looks like Los Blancos might have some competition for Eriksen’s signature in the form of their local rivals.

According to Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla, Atletico Madrid have now joined the race for the Danish international who has spent six seasons in North London after moving from Ajax in the summer of 2013.

Pedulla claims that Los Colchoneros have made contact with Spurs regarding Eriksen on Monday.

Atletico manager Diego Simeone is claimed to be a huge fan of the playmaker. Atletico have lost two important players this summer in Antoine Griezmann and Rodri but have managed to secure the highly-rated Portuguese youngster Joao Felix from Benfica.

Atletico’s interest could be good news for Spurs as it might help bump up Eriksen’s price. However, it is unclear if the Dane will find Atletico to be a significant enough step up from Tottenham, and so it is likely that he would prefer a move to Real Madrid.
