Report: Another Premier League rival enters race for Spurs-linked Lucas Paqueta

According to Calciomercato, Everton have now entered the race for Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

Reports have indicated that although Spurs are prioritising selling players who are surplus to requirements at the moment, Antonio Conte’s men are still on the lookout for an attacking midfielder this summer (Evening Standard).

Paqueta, who had 18 goal contributions for Lyon last season (Transfermarkt), is said to be one of the names on Tottenham’s shortlist (Football.London).

L’Equipe reported earlier this month that the 24-year-old has expressed a desire to leave Lyon this summer and the French club would be willing to sell him if they receive a suitable offer.

Arsenal have also been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian this summer (MediaFootMarseille) but the Gunners technical director Edu declared earlier this week that the club are not after a player of the Lyon star’s profile (TNT Sports Brazil).

However, if Calciomercato’s latest update is to believed, Mikel Arteta’s men are still very much in the race for Paqueta’s signature.

The report makes no mention of Spurs, and asserts that Arsenal are now battling the Toffees for the midfielder’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Spurs will move for a creative midfielder until the final couple of weeks of the transfer window and it is anybody’s guess at this point who Paratici’s top target is.

Understandably, the priority for Tottenham at the moment is finding buyers for the likes of Lo Celso, Tanganga, Reguilon, Winks and co.
