Report: Antonio Conte could turn his attention to Inter Milan striker

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte may look to his former club Inter Milan for a potential replacement for Harry Kane should the England captain push for a move away from the club, with Edin Dzeko highlighted as a player Conte would be keen to sign.

The futures of both Conte and Kane are uncertain at present, with the former’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2023, and his star striker’s current deal due to come to an end in 2024.

Kane has long been courted by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, and according to FCB Inside, the German side may look to make a move for the 29-year-old after the World Cup.

With his fine form this season, which has seen Kane bag 13 goals in all competitions already this campaign (Transfermarkt), Spurs will be as keen as ever to hold onto their front man. His desire to win silverware may force their hand, though.

If that does happen, it appears Conte has a plan in place to fill the void that would be left by Kane. According to CMW, Conte will raid his former club Inter Milan and bring Edin Dzeko back to the Premier League.

Dzeko’s deal with Inter expires in the summer of 2023, and apparently, Conte will look to reunite with the player. CMW suggests that Dzeko would be the ideal replacement for Kane should he leave, but may also be approached to provide competition within the Spurs squad regardless.

In his previous spell in England, Dzeko scored 72 goals in 189 appearances for Manchester City (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Edin Dzeko is one of those funny players who, during his time in the Premier League, never really stole the headlines but clearly he’s got a keen eye for goal and would be a great free signing if we can bag him. Ideally, he would be here alongside Kane, though, rather than as a replacement.
