Report: Antonio Conte ‘intent on convincing’ Spurs to sign 23-year-old

TuttoJuve have revealed that Antonio Conte ‘seems intent on convincing’ the Tottenham hierarchy to push ahead with an offer for Nicolo Zaniolo.

It was reported in the Italian press on Thursday (CalcioMercato.it) that Tottenham’s opening offer for Zaniolo was turned down by Roma.

It was revealed that the offer was worth £25m plus Joe Rodon, who the North Londoners allegedly value at around £15m, but the Giallorossi informed the Lilywhites they would only consider a straight cash offer for the winger.

According to CalcioMercato’s recent update, although Roma would prefer to sell Zaniolo to Spurs over a domestic rival, the 23-year-old would prefer to join Juventus this summer.

TuttoJuve have now stated that Juve’s interest in the Italy international has gone cold while Tottenham are still pushing ahead with a move for the player.

This is because Conte is said to be keen on adding the winger to the Spurs squad ahead of his first full season in charge of the Premier League club.

The report goes on to add that the Spurs head coach has been on Zaniolo’s trail for several years and even tried to take him to Inter Milan during his time at the San Siro.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Conte and Paratici both being fans of Zaniolo, I would be surprised if Tottenham’s reported offer on Thursday turns out to be their final one for the winger.

However, we also know that Paratici likes to negotiate for several different players for each position before making a decision on who to pursue. So, it will be interesting to see how this develops over the coming days.
