Gianluca Di Marzio claim that Antonio Conte is leaning towards rejecting Tottenham Hotspur’s offer owing to his doubts about the project.
It has been a whirlwind of a few days with regards to Tottenham pursuit of Conte. It emerged earlier this week that the Italian had become the club’s number one target after their attempts to lure Mauricio Pochettino back from Paris Saint-Germain hit a dead-end.
The Conte story progressed quickly and just when it looked like Spurs had pulled off a sensation deal for Conte, some reports emerged today claiming that the former Chelsea boss was not 100 per cent convinced by Tottenham’s project.
Gianluca Di Marzio have now gone a step further and suggested that Conte is now more likely to reject Spurs’ offer than accept it.
The 51-year-old reportedly has doubts over the potential competitiveness of the squad for the upcoming seasons. He is said to be unsure as to whether the gap between Spurs and the top sides in the Premier League can be bridged quickly.
