Report: Antonio Conte ready to throw player straight into his starting eleven

The Sun have claimed that Antonio Conte is ready to throw Pedro Porro straight into his starting eleven at right wing-back as soon as the Spaniard arrives through the door.

Tottenham announced their first capture of the January transfer window on Wednesday, revealing that Arnaut Danjuma had joined on loan from Villarreal at until the end of the season, and Porro is soon expected to follow the Dutchman through the door.

Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday evening that Spurs are ‘really close’ to striking a deal with Sporting Lisbon for the right-back and that the transfer is expected to be concluded within the next 24 to 48 hours.

This has now been backed up by The Sun, who state that the Lilywhites are confident that Porro will deal will be fully agreed upon sooner rather than later.

The publication claims that the deal is expected to be worth £40m including add-ons and bonuses, with Manchester City set to get 30 per cent of that fee due to a sell-on clause.

The Sun add that Conte sees Porro as the ideal fit for the right wing-back role in his system and the Italian is expected to throw the 23-year-old straight into the team.

Spurs Web Opinion

While the FA Cup clash against Preston will obviously come too soon for Porro, it sounds like we could well see the 23-year-old make his Spurs debut against his former club when City come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on February 5. The arrival of the two new signings should help lift the mood of everyone at the club, including the players and the fans.
