Report: Antonio Conte wants to complete a move to Tottenham this summer

According to the print edition of Tuttosport (as relayed by Sempre Inter) Antonio Conte has his eyes set on the Tottenham job.

Conte’s departure from Inter was confirmed this week, with the Inter board failing to provide the transfer assurances that the 51-year-old demanded.

The Italian press initially installed Spurs as the favourites to snap up the former Chelsea boss, with the North Londoners said to have made him a lucrative offer.

However, over the past couple of days, some sources have claimed that Real Madrid are also after Conte and that the experienced coach would prefer a move to the Spanish capital.

Tuttosport have now contradicted that claim, suggesting instead that the Italian is hoping to complete a move to Tottenham.

It is explained that Conte, who was paid €7.5m (£6.3m) by Inter after the club terminated his contract, is eyeing a return to the Premier League with Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

It would be difficult for any manager to refuse the Real Madrid job if the Spanish giants come calling.

However, Los Blancos have plenty of problems at the moment and do not look like they are in a position to invest significantly into the squad due to their financial owes.

Given the huge expectations and the ageing squad at Madrid, I can see Conte viewing Tottenham as a potentially more stable project.
