Report: Antonio Conte wants to reunite with Tottenham player at Napoli

According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are keen on securing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s services, with new boss Antonio Conte wanting to reunite with the experienced midfielder.

The report says that Hojbjerg, who has just a year left on his contract, is expected to depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, with Napoli finding the player to be an attractive target.

Hojbjerg could be set for summer Spurs exit

There is said to be a ‘triple convergence of satisfaction’ at Napoli, with Conte, director of football Giovanni Manna and the club’s board thought to be fans of the Dane.

The report says that Conte is now drawing up a list of targets ahead of his first season in charge of the Serie A side, with the former Spurs boss’ list thought to include Hojbejrg’s name.

Napoli and Conte both like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

It is revealed that Napoli are expected to lose Zambo Anguissa, who is being targeted by Al-Nassr, with the Tottenham man being pencilled in as the ideal replacement.

The publication adds that Conte enjoyed working with the former Southampton man during his 15 months in charge of Spurs and the pair could now link up again at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Hojbjerg made 36 Premier League appearances for Tottenham last season with only eight of those coming as a start (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

The interest in Hojbjerg’s services appears to be intensifying ahead of the summer transfer window and it now looks increasingly likely that there will be a bidding war for the Denmark international’s services.

With just a year left on his contract, Tottenham will be keen to secure as much money as possible for the Dane.

Hojbjerg’s game would certainly suit the style of play in Italy and had a decent spell under Conte, however, he is not as suited for the brand of football which Ange Postecoglou demands at Tottenham.
