Report: Arsenal agree deals to beat Tottenham to two rumoured targets

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Arsenal have signed the documents to complete the transfer of centre-back Jakob Kiwior, who had also been linked with Tottenham. This comes just after the Gunners signed another Spurs-linked star in Leandro Trossard.

TuttoMercatoWeb revealed earlier this week that Spezia had turned down an offer from Borussia Dortmund for Kiwior, but it appears Arsenal put something more tempting on the table.

Kiwior has progressed considerably since making the move to Spezia 18 months ago, with the centre-back starting all but one match of their Serie A matches in 2022-23 (Transfermarkt) and hardly putting a foot wrong.

The 22-year-old’s stock grew further in light of his solid displays for Poland at the World Cup and it was suggested on the back of his performances in Qatar that Spurs were one of several clubs eyeing a move for the player (Fichajes).

It has subsequently emerged over the last few weeks that the likes of West Ham United (Milan Live), Napoli (CalcioMercato) and RB Leipzig (Foot Mercato) were all monitoring Kiwior.

Trossard also completed his £27m move from Brighton to Arsenal this week (SkySports), coming just days after reports suggesting Spurs had a £12m bid turned down amid their interest (The Athletic).

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham are likely to be in the market for a left-sided centre-back next summer and it is not surprising that Paratici was keeping an eye on Kiwior, given the centre-back’s development over the last year and a half. However, Arsenal have once again done business early and gotten there first. And the Trossard deal just seemed like a no-brainer for both clubs.
