Report: Arsenal among clubs ‘attentive’ to 30-year-old linked with Tottenham

Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna has claimed that Arsenal are among the clubs keeping an eye on the situation of rumoured Tottenham target, Wilfried Zaha.

For a long time, Zaha has been considered by many to be one of the best players outside the Premier League’s ‘big six’ clubs but for one reason or another, the Crystal Palace star has secured a move away from Selhurst Park over recent years.

That looks destined to change this summer, with the winger’s current contract with Palace set to run out in June (Transfermarkt).

London World reported last month that Tottenham are at the front of the queue to snap up the 30-year-old, with the publication stating that the North London club are ‘increasingly confident’ of securing the attacker’s signature.

However, this was contradicted by The Sunday Mirror (9/4; page 76), who claimed earlier this week that it was Newcastle who are currently leading the race for the Ivorian’s signature.

Aouna has now provided an update on the attacker’s future, revealing that Zaha is attracting interest from Arsenal, AS Monaco, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund ahead of the summer.

The journalist stated that the Saudi duo, Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad, also want Zaha but the player prefers to remain in Europe.

Aouna added that the former Manchester United man has also not ruled out the possibility of extending his deal at Palace.

Signing a player of Zaha’s quality and experience on a free transfer would be an extremely tempting option for many of the elite clubs across Europe.

So, the 30-year-old is certainly not going to be short of offers.

However, Tottenham are likely not going to make a decision on whether to move for the Palace star until they appoint a new manager. That might give the other suitors an edge over the Lilywhites.
