Report: Arsenal and three other PL rivals linked with alleged Spurs target

Football Transfers have revealed that the race for rumoured Tottenham target Brennan Johnson is now heating up, with a number of top Premier League clubs keeping an eye on the Nottingham Forest star.

Johnson, who had a breakthrough season in the Championship last term, has seamlessly made the transition to the Premier League, with eight goals and two assists to his name in his debut top-flight campaign so far (Transfermarkt).

Football Insider reported last month that the 21-year-old’s displays had caught Tottenham’s attention, with the North London club alleged to be weighing up a summer offer for the youngster.

The report asserted that scouts from Tottenham had been to the City Ground on multiple occasions to watch the Welshman in action this season.

However, if Football Transfers’ latest update is to be believed, Spurs are expected to face quite a lot of competition for Johnson’s signature this summer.

The report alleges that Arsenal, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Newcastle United have all expressed an interest in the attacking midfielder.

However, it is explained that Forest are determined to keep a hold of Johnson and plan on refusing any offers that come their way if they manage to preserve their Premier League status.

While Forest are currently three points clear of the drop zone, they finish with a difficult run of fixtures, which is why relegation remains a likely possibility.

If they do go down, there will be a major scramble for Johnson’s signature and one would expect Spurs to be involved, given that we are in need of creative midfielders.
