Journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed in his column on Football Insider that Arsenal and Aston Villa have entered the race for RB Salzburg starlet Oscar Gloukh, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Gloukh has won several admirers since completing a £6m switch from Maccabi Tel Aviv to Salzburg 18 months ago.
The attacking midfielder is quickly emerging as one of the most sought-after players in Australian football, with six goals and seven assists to his name across all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Tottenham’s interest in the 19-year-old first came to light during last summer’s transfer window, with several outlets revealing that the Lilywhites were watching the youngster’s progress closely (The Guardian).
Since then, various publications have suggested that a whole host of other Premier League sides have also joined Ange Postecoglou’s side in the race for the Israel international (The Sun).

O’Rourke has now named Villa and the Gunners as the two favourites to land Gloukh when the transfer window reopens in June.
The journalist suggests that the teenager is expected to leave the Australian club at the end of the season as his reputation continues to grow with each game.
O’Rourke makes no mention of Spurs in his report but he adds that other Premier League sides also hold ‘a background interest’ in Gloukh.

While Tottenham arguably do need to cover for James Maddison, perhaps the presence of Alfie Devine and Jamie Donley will perhaps discourage the club from pursuing an attacking midfielder next summer, with both youngsters seemingly impressing Ange and his coaching staff.
