Report: Arsenal and West Ham have enquired about Spurs-linked striker

According to Spanish outlet ABC (as relayed by The Daily Express), Arsenal and West Ham United have both enquired about Barcelona striker Memphis Depay, who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Depay has enjoyed a decent campaign for Barca since joining the club on a free transfer last summer, having scored 12 goals in 27 La Liga appearances for the Catalan club (Transfermarkt).

However, the 28-year-old has fallen down Xavi’s pecking order over recent months, with previous reports indicating that Spurs are leading the race to snap up the striker this summer (Mundo Deportivo).

Sport claimed earlier this month that Barca are ready to cash in on the Netherlands international, who has just 12 months left to run on his contract at Camp Nou.

This has now been backed up by ABC, who state that a transfer fee for Depay would be ‘attractive’ for the La Liga giants this summer.

The report makes no mention of Tottenham but reveals the Dutchman is one of the options on Mikel Arteta’s radar, with the Gunners boss said to be keen on adding to his strike force.

Arsenal, West Ham and Juventus are all said to have enquired about the former Manchester United man’s availability ahead of the summer transfer window.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would take Depay at Spurs as a backup striker and a replacement for Bergwijn as his versatility would mean that he can cover for all three of Kane, Son and Kulusevski.

However, the Dutchman will likely want regular game time ahead of the World Cup in November, and he is much more likely to get that Arsenal or West Ham than he is at Spurs.
