Report: Arsenal are interested in signing player from arch-rivals Tottenham

CalicoMercato have claimed that Arsenal are interested in a move for Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn in the summer.

Tottenham were not able to agree on a transfer fee with Ajax for Bergwijn during the January transfer window (The Sun) and the winger has only fallen further down Antonio Conte’s pecking order since the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus.

Italian journalist Carlo Laudisa said on Carlo Pellegatti’s YouTube channel last month that AC Milan could enter the race for the Tottenham man.

CalcioMercato have now backed up the claim about Milan’s interest in Bergwijn, claiming that the Tottenham star is indeed on the Rosseneri’s radar.

However, the report adds that the Serie A club could face competition from Arsenal for the former PSV Eindhoven man, with Mikel Arteta’s side also holding an interest in the wide-man.

Spurs Web Opinion

Bergwijn certainly seems to possess all the attributes required to succeed in the Premier League but the Dutchman does not quite have the killer instinct in the final third that world-class forwards possess. I would be surprised if Spurs sold the winger to a Premier League club in the summer, especially to a direct rival like Arsenal.
