A Bola have claimed that Arsenal have now emerged as the favourites to land Sporting Lisbon centre-back Goncalo Inacio, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Inacio looks likely to be the next big Portuguese export to the Premier League, with various English clubs alleged to be eyeing the 22-year-old, who has emerged as one of the best centre-backs in Primeira Liga over the last two years.
Tottenham’s interest in the Sporting star first came to light last month, with Fabrizio Romano telling CaughtOffisde that the Lilywhites are keeping a close eye on the player.
It has subsequently emerged over the last couple of weeks that the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal have also expressed an interest in the Portugal international (Jornal de Noticias via Sport Witness).
Arsenal front-runners to sign Goncalo Inacio
A Bola have now that Arsenal are the club who are ‘best positioned to secure’ Inacio in the January transfer window.
The outlet says that Sporting will not let their academy graduate leave mid-season unless the defender’s €60m (£52m) release clause is met.
However, the publication adds that there is now an air of ‘inevitability’ about Inacio’s departure, which is why the Lisbon club are already looking at potential replacements.

It does appear as if Tottenham have moved on from Inacio over the past couple of weeks and are instead focusing their efforts on Jean-Clair Todibo, with Radu Dragusin seemingly being the backup option in case a move for the Frenchman does not materialise.
