Report: Arsenal consider appointing former Spurs man as technical director

Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal are trying to appoint a technical director, and are in a race against time to do so before the summer.

The club have been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Monchi who has returned to Sevilla, as well as former midfielder Marc Overmars, who recently extended his contract with Ajax.

According to the Times, Arsenal are now considering former Tottenham head of recruitment Paul Mitchell for the role. Mitchell who had a successful spell at Southampton with Pochettino, was far less successful during his time in North London.

He was at the helm when the club signed the likes of Clinton N’Jie, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, and Vincent Janssen, who all turned out to be flops for Spurs.

Mitchell is currently working in Germany with RB Leipzig but the report claims that Arsenal might soon offer him a chance to return to English football.

Given Mitchell’s track record at Tottenham, not many Spurs fans will begrudge their rivals if they appoint him as their new technical director.
