Report: Arsenal could be missing key player for NLD against Tottenham

Arsenal could be without a key player for the North London derby on Sunday as Gabriel Martinelli appears to be on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.

It’s been a brilliant start to the season for Tottenham Hotspur under new manager Ange Postecoglou. The Lilywhites are unbeaten so far, with four straight wins putting them second in the Premier League table.

London rivals Arsenal have had a similar start to the campaign and also have 13 points to their name so far, but sit below Spurs on goal difference.

Mikel Arteta led the Gunners to a second-place finish in the league last year, and now has Champions League football to contend with this season.

The North London derby is a fixture every fan and player looks forward to, and it will be a fascinating measure of where both teams are this season when they come to blows this weekend.

Will Martinelli miss the North London Derby?

However, one Arsenal player who may not end up featuring in this early season clash is Gabriel Martinelli.

Fabrizio Romano shared comments from Arteta over the weekend claiming Martinelli had suffered a hamstring strain and would “need to be assessed.”

Now, a report from Football.London has shed further light on the situation. Apparently, the Brazilian is a doubt for the Champions League tie with PSV Eindhoven, and could miss the upcoming game against Spurs too.

It is said Martinelli has suffered a “grade one hamstring injury” that could keep him out for around two weeks. Arsenal are yet to confirm the extent of the injury.

With players like Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, it’s easy to forget about Gabriel Martinelli, but he is an incredibly dangerous player for Arsenal.

If he is missing on Sunday, it will be a big boost for us as he always seems to pop up with goals in important games and could have really hurt us down that left-hand side. Pedro Porro will be relieved, I’m sure.
