Report: Arsenal could enter race for World Cup star linked with Tottenham

AS have revealed that Arsenal could enter the race for rumoured Tottenham target Alexis Mac Allister.

Ahead of the World Cup, not too many people would have expected Mac Allister to get starts for Argentina despite the injury to Giovani Lo Celso.

However, the Brighton man took his opportunity when he came his way and proved a pivotal player for Lionel Scaloni’s men, putting in a particularly impressive showing in the final against France.

On the back of being crowned world champion, Mac Allister’s future has been the subject of much speculation, with L’Interista reporting a few days ago that the likes of Tottenham, Juventus and Inter Milan are eyeing a move for the midfielder.

Spurs’ interest in the 23-year-old was backed up by CalcioMercatoWeb.it, who reported on Monday that Antonio Conte had already been impressed by the Brighton star even before the World Cup, and could ask the Tottenham hierarchy to sign the player in January.

However, if AS’ latest report is to believed, Spurs might face competition from the Premier League and La Liga for Mac Allister’s signature.

The report states that Atletico Madrid as well as Tottenham’s North London rivals, Arsenal, are now eyeing a move for the Seagulls star.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not sure that any club would be able to prize Mac Allister away from Brighton in January as Brighton have the option to extend his contract until 2026, according to Transfermerkt. So, it is going to take a substantial fee, potentially around £50m, to convince Roberto De Zerbi’s men to let go of their prized asset.
