CalcioMercatoWeb.it have claimed that Arsenal could overtake Paris Saint-Germain in the race for Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar, who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed last week that Spurs are not expected to sign a centre-half in January, with the journalist claiming that Tottenham are prioritising additions up front and at right wing-back this month.
However, there continues to be speculation linking the likes of Skriniar to Spurs, with CMW.it reporting a couple of weeks ago that Antonio Conte’s men would be willing to shell out €30m (£26.1m) for the Slovak, whose current deal at the San Siro runs out next summer.
The same publication have now offered an update on the centre-back’s future but they make no mention of Spurs and instead suggest that it is Arsenal and PSG who are leading the race for the 27-year-old.
The report explains that Skriniar has not renewed his contract with the Nerazzurri ‘even if there seems to be the conditions for an agreement’.
It is asserted that should the former Sampdoria man not sign a new deal soon, both Arsenal and PSG are ready to make a move, with CMW.it adding that the Gunners could even overtake the Ligue 1 side in the race for the defender.

Spurs Web Opinion
While strengthening at centre-back may not be Tottenham’s priority in January, I am sure the club will reconsider if an opportunity to sign a player like Skriniar opens up.
Arsenal would likely be a more attractive destination for the centre-back, given how well they are performing this season but perhaps Spurs can use the defender’s relationship with Conte to their advantage.
