Report: Arsenal enter race for defender Spurs allegedly bid for last summer

According to Brazilian publication UOL Esporte, Arsenal are one of the clubs to have expressed an interest in Shakhtar Donetsk right-back Dodo, who was previously linked with a move to Tottenham.

Dodo has come on leaps and bounds since his move to Shakhtar in 2017 and the right-back is having another excellent campaign for the Ukrainian club, with four assists from 14 leagues games (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham reportedly saw an offer of around €20m (£17m) turned down by Shaktar for the Brazilian international last summer (Andre Hernan).

UOL Esporte have now revealed that several clubs from across Europe have enquired about Dodo over recent days.

The report does not mention Spurs but adds that their North London rivals Arsenal are keen on snapping up the right-back.

In addition, Bournemouth, who are pushing for promotion back to the Premier League, are also said to be on Dodo’s trail.

The report states that Shakatar want around £17m to begin negotiations for the 23-year-old but adds that the player is prepared to wait till June to sort out his future.

Spurs Web Opinion

We should be aiming for players of a higher calibre than Dodo, who is not proven in a top league yet.

For the two wing-back roles, I expect Conte to go after players who are good in one vs one situations, given how often we manage to isolate our wing-backs in such situations in the final third.

I would not be surprised if Spurs reignite their interest in Adama Traore after failing to get him in January.
