Report: Arsenal enter race for player Spurs were said to be favourites to sign

Todofichajes have now claimed that Arsenal have entered the race to sign rumoured Tottenham target, James Maddison.

The Telegraph reported last week that Tottenham have moved ahead of the competition for Maddison’s signature, who was said to be valued by Leicester City at £50m ahead of the summer.

Football Insider were the latest to make the same claim on April 9, adding that Spurs are ahead of both Newcastle and Liverpool in the race for the attacking midfielder’s signature.

The outlet suggested that the Lilywhites are ready to make a move for the Leicester star even before they appoint a new manager as they do not want to risk losing their lead.

However, if Todofichajes’s latest update is to be believed, Sprus could face competition from their North London rivals, Arsenal, for Maddison’s signature.

The report asserts that amidst the Gunners’ interest, the Foxes have now set their asking price for the England international at €70m (£61.6m).

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think any club would be ready to pay £60m for Maddison, given that he would only have 12 months left on his contract in the summer.

Leicester will look to get a bidding war going so that his price goes up but I expect the 26-year-old to be sold for around £45m-£50m.
