Report: Arsenal enter race for teenage sensation wanted by Spurs

According to a report from The Daily Mirror, Arsenal have now entered the race for Wigan starlet Kyle Joseph, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar.

Joseph has impressed in his breakthrough season for Wigan, finding the back of the net five times for the League One side so far.

It was reported at the start of January that Tottenham were set to return with a second offer for the striker after seeing their initial £150,000 offer rejected by Wigan during the summer transfer window.

It was claimed at the time that Spurs were facing competition from the likes of Celtic, Rangers and Sheffield United for the 19-year-old.

However, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed that Spurs were not keen to get into a bidding war for the teenager, with promising young strikers like Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett coming through the club’s ranks.

According to the Mirror, Spurs could now also face competition from their North London rivals, with the Gunners having followed Joseph’s progress for some time.

The report alleges that the youngster will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, with his current contract with the Latics running out in June.

Seeing as Mourinho seems to rate Dane Scarlett very highly, it remains to be seen if Spurs would want to bring in another young striker who could potentially push Scarlett further down the pecking order.

However, if Joseph is available on a free transfer, that could tempt Spurs to act. Perhaps, the club will be hoping that Alfie Devine puts in a good word to the Wigan youngster regarding the opportunities at Tottenham.
