Report: Arsenal and Everton set to rival Spurs for 20-year-old centre-back

Tottenham have competition from North London rivals Arsenal and Everton if they wish to sign Hellas Verona star, Marash Kumbulla, according to the reports from Italy.

Kumbulla was a relative unknown a year ago but the 20-year-old has been consistently solid at the back for Verona in their first season back in Serie A.

Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) reported at the start of the month that Tottenham viewed Kumbulla as the ideal option to replace Jan Vertonghen, who is expected to leave this summer.

The report claimed that the Lilywhites had already begun talks with Verona over the Albanian international’s signature.

However, FC Inter News now claim that Arsenal and Everton are also keen on snapping up the young defender. The report claims that Kumbula is expected to leave Verona this summer but would prefer to stay in Serie A.

It is suggested that Inter Milan are the front-runners as things stand, with the centre-back finding the prospect of a move to the San Siro appealing.

Spurs Web Opinion

Kumbulla has burst on to the scene this season and has been flawless almost every single time I have watched him. For a 20-year-old, he has unbelievable composure. However, the requirements of a centre-half in the Premier League are different compared to the Serie A, as seen with the likes of Federico Fazio and Vlad Chiriches. Therefore, it will be a gamble if we decide to go for Kumbulla.
