Report: Arsenal have made an offer for centre-back allegedly wanted by Spurs

Firenze Viola have now revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Nikola Milenkovic is expected to stay at Fiorentina despite Arsenal making an offer for the centre-back in recent hours.

La Nazione reported last week that Tottenham were one of the contenders to sign Milenkovic, who has just 12 months left on his contract with Fiorentina.

The report stated that the Serie A club could potentially explore a swap deal for Giovani Lo Celso if Spurs make advances towards the Serbian.

Corriere Fiorentino (02/08/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) subsequently claimed that Antonio Conte is a fan of the 24-year-old and wants to sign him as a replacement for Japhet Tanganga, who was expected to leave Spurs.

The report added that Fiorentina’s asking price for the centre-back is expected to be around €15m (£12.5m).

If Firenze Viola’s latest update is to be believed, despite Arsenal and Sevilla both making proposals for Milenkovic over recent hours, the player is expected to stay at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

The report claims that the defender is expected to put pen to paper on a new contract with the Viola and is seen as a future club captain.

Milenkovic would have been the ideal replacement for Tanganga if the 23-year-old had departed the club. I suspect the main reason that Spurs pulled the plug on their pursuit of the Serbian is due to Tanganga’s proposed move to AC Milan seemingly falling through.
