Report: Arsenal have moved into pole position to sign Spurs-linked starlet

Football Insider have revealed that Arsenal are now at the front of the queue to snap Fenerbahce sensation Arda Guler, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Guler has won several admirers since breaking into Fenerbahce’s senior side two years ago, aged just 16, and the attacking midfielder had an impressive 2022-23 campaign, notching up six goals and seven assists (Transfermarkt).

The teenager was first linked with a move to Tottenham ahead of the January transfer window (Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli – 17/11/22 via Tutto Napoli) and it was suggested by journalist Chris Wheatley last week that the Lilywhites could reignite their interest in the Turk this summer.

Arsenal expected to move for Spurs-linked Guler

If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, it is Arsenal who are now ‘the most interested club’ in Guler, with the Gunners now expected to push ahead with a move for the player.

The report makes no mention of Tottenham but suggests that Newcastle United have reached out to the 18-year-old’s representatives while Barcelona and Ajax are also alleged to be monitoring the Fenerbahce man closely.

However, according to the update, the Gunners have now ‘leapfrogged’ the aforementioned clubs and are now in pole position to snap up Guler.

The fact that so many top clubs across the Premier League and Europe are eyeing a move for Guler, suggests that many scouts are convinced that he is a generational talent.

However, I would not be surprised if the teenager’s representatives are advising him against moving to a top club so early in his career.

Perhaps, he needs a stepping stone to continue playing regular football and developing as a player.
