Report: Arsenal have submitted offer for Spurs-linked Josko Gvardiol

According to French publication Media Foot, Arsenal have now launched an offer for RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer.

Spurs have strengthened several different areas of their squad so far this summer, including their backline, with Clement Lenglet joining on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona last week.

However, reports indicate that Tottenham continue to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements, with Antonio Conte said to be keen on signing another central defender this summer (GiveMeSport).

It was previously revealed that Gvardiol was one of the options on Conte’s wishlist but the Lilywhites were put off by Leipzig’s excessive asking price for the 20-year-old (The Athletic).

If Media Foot’s latest update is to be believed, Arsenal have now stepped up their efforts to sign the Croat.

The report claims that the Gunners have identified the Leipzig star as a replacement for William Saliba, who could be on his way out of the Emirates, and that Mikel Arteta’s men have already sent an offer to the Bundesliga club.

Media Foot also add that Gvardiol is of interest to Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola’s side backed to move for the young defender should Nathan Ake leave.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think Tottenham’s signing of Lenglet likely rules out a move for the likes of Gvardiol or Pau Torres this summer. If both Tanganga and Rodon (and potentially Sanchez) depart, I would expect us to sign a right-sided centre-back rather than another left-sided one.
