Reports: Arsenal agree deal to sign midfielder Spurs and Man Utd were tracking

Arsenal have now agreed a deal to sign Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira, with Fabrizio Romano giving it his ‘here we go’ seal of approval.

Tottenham and Manchester United were tracking the status of Vieira, according to the print edition of Correio de Manha (15/06/22 — as relayed by Sport Witness).

Antonio Conte is expected to continue building his Spurs squad over the summer as the new Premier League season and a Champions League campaign approaches.

Having already brought in Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster, Spurs have now moved onto improving their midfield options with Brighton’s Yves Bissouma set to be the next incoming (The Times).

Portuguese publication Correiro de Manha claimed Vieira had been attracting attention from clubs in England, with Spurs and Man United named as potential suitors. Both English sides were said to be ‘following’ the Portugal youth international.

However, Fabrizio Romano reported today that Arsenal were already in advanced talks to sign the midfielder this summer, citing Pedro Sepulveda who claimed Vieira will be an Arsenal player. It was revealed shortly after that a deal had been reached (Romano).

Vieira, 22, enjoyed a stellar season for Porto last term, recording six goals and 14 assists (Transfermarkt) as they secured the Primeira Liga title.

Spurs Web Opinion

Vieira put together a very strong season for Porto as they won the league title so it is not surprising that he is appearing on the radar for the likes of Spurs, Arsenal, and United.

Spurs have quite a few options in midfield already so it may be a case of needing to shift two or three players out to free up some more space – plus Arsenal have won this particular race anyway.
