Report: Arsenal in talks with 56-year-old who had been linked with Spurs

According to a report in RMC Sport, Arsenal are trying to appoint former Tottenham target Luis Campos as their Director of Football.

Even though Tottenham seemed to have failed in their efforts to make Antonio Conte their next manager, Fabio Paratici looks set to arrive as the club’s new Sporting Director.

The Italian joins Spurs after seven years as Juventus’ chief football officer, a period which proved to be one of the most successful in the club’s history.

However, Campos was one of the candidates that Spurs were rumoured to be targeting before their eventual decision to go for Paratici.

It was reported earlier this year that, Campos, who is credited with helping unearth the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho and Bernardo Silva, could reunite with Jose Mourinho at Spurs, with the pair having previously worked together at Real Madrid.

Tottenham appear to have gone in a different direction after Mourinho’s sacking but that might have opened the door for their North London rivals to swoop for Campos.

RMC Sport claim that the former Lille director is in discussions with several clubs around Europe including Arsenal and Real Madrid.
