Report: Arsenal linked with speedster rumoured to be on Spurs’ radar

Arsenal have become the latest Premier League club to enter the race for rumoured Spurs target Ricky-Jade Jones, according to a report by The Daily Mail.

The Peterborough United talent has burst on to the scene this season and has made top-flight clubs to stand up and take notice of his performances for the League One side.

The youngster, who usually plays as a wide forward on the left-hand side, has not only showcased his blistering pace but also the composure to make the right decisions in the final third.

Spurs reportedly saw a £1.75million bid for the 17-year-old, who has recorded a 100m sprint time of 10.9 seconds turned down back in November (The Sun).

With the Lilywhites said to be focused on signing up and coming talents rather than established stars this summer (Football Insider), it is conceivable that they might return for Jones’ services in the summer.

However, The Daily Mail now claim that the Lilywhites could potentially face considerable competition for the teenager, not only from their North London rivals Arsenal, but also from Manchester United and Liverpool.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ricky-Jade Jones has burst on to the scene and shown a lot of promise this season. However, he needs to perform for a more consistent period to warrant the kind of praise he has been getting. As we have seen with Jack Clarke, one good season is certainly no guarantee that a youngster is ready for top-flight football.
