Report: Arsenal keen on signing striker Spurs are also still keeping tabs on

According to Planet Sport, Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham, could emerge as Arsenal’s number one target in the summer.

There has been plenty of speculation linking Tottenham with a move for Martinez over recent weeks, with Inter Live reporting last month that Spurs are set to prioritise a deal for the Inter star when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

TMW then backed up this claim, suggesting that Antonio Conte was keen on reuniting with the 24-year-old in North London.

The likes of Arsenal and Manchester United are also thought to have their eye on the Argentina international (Il Giorno via FC Inter 1908).

Planet Sport have now revealed that Mikel Arteta is keen on adding firepower to his forward line in the summer and the Gunners are ‘very interested’ in Martinez.

The report adds that the Inter star would be Arsenal’s ‘main target’ if the club want to push the boat out to sign a striker.

In addition, it is explained that Spurs are also continuing to keep tabs on the 24-year-old ahead of the summer.

Martinez might prefer to join Arsenal over Spurs as he would be guaranteed to be the main man upfront at the Emirates – a luxury he would not have at Spurs.

However, the Conte factor could give the Lilywhites an advantage in the race. It might also come down to which of the two clubs can offer Champions League football to the Argentine.
