Report: Arsenal line up bid for £80m Spurs target

According to a report in The Sun, Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal will test Crystal Palace’s resolve to hold on to their star man, Wilfried Zaha.

The report claims however that the Eagles want £80million for Zaha’s services, a figure that would rule the Gunners out of the running for the Ivorian.

The 26-year-old, who has been widely acknowledged as one of the best players outside the so-called top 6 of the Premier League, has also been linked with a move to Tottenham in recent seasons (Daily Star).

The skillful wide-man, who has scored 10 goals and assisted 5 others in the Premier League this season, has reportedly already told Palace about his intention to leave and play Champions League football (Sky Sports).

While Spurs have guaranteed themselves Champions League football next term for the fourth season running, Arsenal need to win the Europa League final against Chelsea in order to be in the competition.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Champions League football could Spurs give an advantage over Arsenal in the race for Zaha, it is extremely unlikely that the club will be willing to pay anywhere near the reported asking price for him.

The money can be better utilised in other areas of the squad which are in more urgent need of upgrading
