Report: Arsenal make enquiry to sign Spurs-linked Serie A player

Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed that Arsenal have now entered the race to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham this transfer window.

Journalist Ciro Venerato told TuttoJuve last week that McKennie ‘dreams’ of a move to Tottenham but he has only received offers from smaller Premier League clubs this window.

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs reported on Saturday that the USA international is hopeful that a suitable offer will come in for him before the end of the month, naming Spurs as one of the clubs interested in the Juve star.

Gazzetta have now suggested hat Arsenal have made a ‘survey’ regarding McKennie’s availability and that the Gunners’ interest could ‘soon become something more’.

The publication adds that Juve see the 24-year-old as being ‘the most expendable’ of their squad and would be willing to sell him for a fee of around €20m-€25m (£17.6m-£22m) this month.

The report adds that McKennie has already received interest from Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Fulham but has rejected those since he wants to move to a top club.

Meanwhile, it has also emerged over the last few hours that Leeds United are exploring a move for the attacking midfielder (Daily Mail).

Spurs Web Opinion

Now that Conte has seemingly decided to hold on to Pape Matar Sarr rather than loaning him out, I do not expect Spurs to make additions to the central midfield department this transfer window. It does appear as if a forward and a right wing-back (potentially Danjuma and Porro) are likely to be the only two additions this month.
