Report: Arsenal make official £40m bid for rumoured Spurs target

Sky Sports have reported that Arsenal submitted an official £40m bid for Brighton’s Ben White this week, an offer that was rejected by the Premier League club.

White, who was called up into the England squad for Euro 2020 after Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced to withdraw through injury, is also said to be a Tottenham target this summer.

The Daily Mirror reported earlier this month that Arsenal had joined Liverpool, Tottenham and Man United in the race for White, who was valued at £50m.

Football London also reported last month that the Brighton defender was on Spurs’ wishlist heading into the summer transfer window.

White is a versatile player to have in the squad as he can play centre-back, in a back three, right-back and defensive midfield.

Sky Sports claim that talks are ongoing between Brighton and Arsenal over a possible deal, meaning that Spurs may have to move quickly if they want their man.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would love Ben White in the Tottenham team, however, I just think that £50m is going to be too expensive for the Lilywhites this summer. I expect us to go for a number of smart £15m-£20m signings like Joachim Andersen and Marcel Sabitzer.
