Report: Arsenal prepared to triple the salary of rumoured Spurs target

EuroSport have claimed that Arsenal are prepared to more than triple Lautaro Martinez’ salary in an effort to lure him to the Emirates.

Tottenham were thought to have initially agreed on a fee with Inter Milan for Martinez but the Serie A club’s stance has reportedly changed following their impending sale of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

Some sources are now suggesting the reigning Serie A champions are determined not to let any of their big names leave after Lukaku’s departure.

Eurosport have backed up the claim by suggesting that Inter might block Martinez’s move following the Belgian’s sale.

The report reveals that, despite Inter’s stern stance, the Argentine international is keen on leaving the San Siro.

It is also explained that Tottenham’s North London rivals, Arsenal have not given up hope of landing the 23-year-old.

While the Gunners are yet to make formal contact with Inter over Martinez, it is asserted that Mikel Arteta’s side have already discussed personal terms with the player and have indicated they are willing to pay him around £275,000-a-week.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am optimistic that a deal for Martinez is still on the cards for Spurs despite Inter’s alleged stern stance.

The 23-year-old has only two years left to run on his contract and the Serie A club cannot afford to let him run down his deal any further given their financial issues.

If the Argentine is keen to leave Inter as Eurosport suggest, then one would think he is unlikely to sign a new contract.
