Report: Arsenal ‘reach agreement’ with Tottenham target

Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal reportedly have a limited transfer budget this summer which is making it difficult for them to land their targets (The Express).

However, the Gunners might have been able to finally land one of their main targets with Sky Sports reporting that Arsenal have now reached an agreement with Saint-Etienne to sign William Saliba.

It is suggested that the deal will see the 18-year-old loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for the duration of the 2019/20 season.

The report also goes on the claim that although Tottenham had been in talks with Saint-Etienne for Saliba, they never made an offer for the central defender.

This contradicts last week’s reports that claimed Spurs had joined the race for Frenchman and had even outbid Arsenal for the teenager (RMC Sport).

With reports in Italy suggesting that Roma are still trying to secure Alderweireld’s signature (Il Messaggero via Sport Witness), Spurs might now have to look elsewhere if they wish to sign a central defender.

Spurs Web Opinion

We at Spurs Web would prefer it if the club hung on to Alderweireld for at least one more season. However, even if the Belgian international leaves, Spurs don’t need to engage in any panic buying as they are pretty well stocked in central defence.
