Report: Arsenal ready to increase offer to sign rumoured Spurs target

SportMediaset have claimed that Arsenal are ready to increase their offer for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, who has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over recent months.

Gianluca Di Marzio revealed two weeks ago that Arsenal were the only Premier League club who have tried to snap up Vlahovic in January.

However, the journalist explained that the centre-forward had no interest in joining the Gunners next month and suggested that he is more likely to leave Fiorentina next summer, with Spurs, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund interested in a summer deal.

This was followed by a report by CalcioMercato, who claimed that the race for Vlahovic was between Tottenham, Arsenal and Juventus, with the two North London clubs thought to be ready to pay €70m (£59.6m) for the striker’s services.

Since then, it has emerged that Manchester City have also entered the race for the Serbian international, with Pep Guardiola’s men thought to be ready to break the bank for him after missing out on Harry Kane in the summer.

SportMediaset have now stated that Mikel Arteta’s men have still not given up hope of snapping up Vlahovic.

It is explained that Arsenal have an offer of €80m (£68.2m) ready, which is higher than the previous proposal they made to Fiorentina.

Spurs’ local rivals reportedly want to ‘convince’ the striker to move to the Emirates next month.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Arsenal want to ‘convince’ Vlahovic to join them suggests that the striker is not overly keen to move to the Emirates.

Given the form the 21-year-old has been in this season, I do not think either Spurs or Arsenal have a chance of getting him.

I fully expect Manchester City to win the race for the Serbian if they do not manage to get Erling Haaland.
