Report: Arsenal ready to meet asking price for Antonio Conte target

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Arsenal have held a meeting with Fiorentina to discuss a deal for rumoured Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic in January.

Reports have backed Tottenham to reignite their interest in Vlahovic during the January transfer window after missing out on him last summer.

The speculation linking Spurs with the centre-forward has further picked pace after Antonio Conte’s appointment, with the Italian thought to have asked for the Serbian to be brought in as part of his rebuild.

Fabio Paratici is alleged to have met with the Fiorentina directors last week to discuss a potential deal for the 21-year-old.

According to Di Marzio, Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal have now also held a meeting with the Viola directors over a deal for the striker.

It is stated that the Gunners are keen on bringing Vlahovic to the Emirates in January and that they are open to meeting the Serie A club’s €80m (£68.6m) asking price for the player.

However, the report suggests that while Arsenal have found the outlines of an agreement with Fiorentina, they still have work to do to convince the player.

It is explained that Vlahovic will want to wait to consider even bigger offers and would be prepared to wait until next summer’s transfer window for an exit.

Spurs Web Opinion

One would assume that Fabio Paratici’s relationships in Italian football and Antonio Conte’s pull would give us an edge over the likes of Arsenal in the race for Vlahovic.

However, I am not sure if the Serbian would be at top of Conte’s wishlist in January as there are other areas of the pitch that the Italian would want to address with more urgency.
